West Union
For a small town, we are proud of our little park. It
has a very
nice ball diamond that accommodates both baseball and softball. The ball
diamond area has restrooms and each side has
a small play area. On the south side of the park there are two shelters
with picnic tables, sand volleyball court, lighted tennis courts,
a stage and restroom facilities. There are both water and electricity
available at the shelters. Some of the events at the park are the
Ruritan Easter Egg Hunt for the young and old, a large 4th of July event
with fireworks, and the Ruritan Fall Festival which includes a wonderful
catfish dinner served by Earl's. There are also church activities,
reunions, and other events at the park. Future plans are more restrooms,
a paved walking path around the park, and two large perennial rock
gardens. Our goal is to provide a healthy and safe place to enjoy all
outdoor activities. The park is located 12 miles south of Marshall on IL
Route One. At West Union, turn east at the flashing light to the first
block, turn right and follow road for about 3/4 mile. The park is on the
east side. |
