Watch the Weather

When planning your activities in the campground and on the lake be aware of the forecast and be prepared in the event of a storm. If you are on the lake when a storm arises be ready to take cover immediately. Always take a phone or radio with you that you can access the current weather warnings with if they should arise. In the Park you will find multiple concrete block structures that are listed as tornado shelters. Take cover in these shelters as opposed to staying in a camper or vehicle should a tornado warning be announced.

When present, Park Staff will be around through the campground before a storm hits in the event of a warning being issued if it is safe for them to be out. In some cases, a storm may not give us any warning and that is why it is critical during this time for Campers to stay in touch with the weather conditions in the area. Our local radio station 105.9 WMMC FM does a great job of giving us weather updates in the event of a storm. If you have access via the web go to WTHI.com, this is another great place to get up to the minute information on storms.

We also encourage our users to get connected to weatherbug.com for up to the minute storm information on their mobile media devices, the local station is at Marshall High School.

The park staff are here to help you in many ways, however if it is a matter of emergency the first call you should make is to 911 to activate emergency responders.
