SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT
RODEO TRAILER AND BIKE USAGE
The Mission Statement of the District is to “To manage and preserve the natural resources and provide health and recreational opportunities”. The District’s Board of Commissioners Trails Coalition Committee has developed a program involving the use of a Bicycle Rodeo Trailer containing bicycles, equipment and educational material that will be loaned to local schools within the county and surrounding area as its primary function. In addition to this function the Rodeo Trailer will also be used to assist the Trails Coalition Committee to carry out their annual bike events and bike rodeos that will be held throughout the year to educate and demonstrate safe bike riding to the youth of the county and patrons of the Clark County Park District. This program is initially funded by the Safe Routes to School Program and will be maintained in perpetuity by funds generated by the Trails Coalition Committee’s programs and events. The mission statement of the Trails Coalition Committee is “To promote walking, running, biking fitness throughout Clark County”.
The Rodeo Trailer will consist of the following: 24’ Enclosed box trailer 10’ x 10’ pop up canopy 38 bicycles – of various sizes 38 helmets – of various sizes Tool kit for bike repair Bicycle parts for repair Cones for activities Small compressor Storage tubs for helmets and repair parts Hair nets and disinfectant spray for lice prevention Disposable towels Disinfectant sprays for seats and handle bars Educational material 2 folding chairs 8 foot folding table for registration 2 100’ extension cords Mega phone First aid Kit Box of non latex rubber gloves Fire extinguisher Office supplies: pens, markers, paper note pads, stapler, tape, plastic wire ties. Participation waivers for Trails Coalition Committee events Broom and dust pan Small trash can and trash bags.
