Fishing Rules and Regulations

Clark County Park District operates with a cooperative agreement with Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Perservation of the fishery and resources within and around the lake are the utmost importance. All IDNR rules and regulations apply at Mill Creek Lake.

 

Fishing Regulations:

  1. Fishermen must follow creel limits for Mill Creek Lake and are subject to additional, statewide fishing regulations for Illinois sport fishing.
  2. No person shall remove the head or tail of fish which length limits apply while on waters. Length is meared from the tip of the snout to the tip of the tail.
  3. No fish shall be cleaned or discarded in waters, along shoreline, or in woods of Mill Creek Park. Receptacles are available for disposing of fish wastes. 
  4. No bank poles or trot lnes are permitted in any are of Mill Creek Lake.
  5. The A-rig with more than 2 hooks is illegal in Mill Creek Lake.
  6. All live bait greater than 8" must be rigged with a quick set rig.

  • Large Mouth Bass

-2 Fish < 15"

-1 Fish = or > to 15"

  • Smallmouth Bass

-2 Fish < 15"

-1 Fish = or > to 15"

  • Crappie

-25 Fish Daily Limit

-Only 2 > or = to 12"

  • Channel Catfish

-6 Fish Daily Limit

  • Pure Muskellunge

-1 Fish Dailt Limit

-42" Minimum
